Why Our Kids Need Dads

Our kids need Dads beacause Dads don't think it's crazy to spend an icy afternoon building an igloo with the kids. (Click Here for the full story) Then, when the kids think it would be "cool" to sleep in it,  Dads will say: "Yeah! Let's Sleep Out There!"  (Moms say: "Are You Nuts?")

Dads will also spend an enormous amount of energy shovelling a ginormous pond so that the kids have a really big place to go ice skating, and to play hockey.  Dads will also take the kids to get ice skates, think nothing of getting the truck stuck in the woods near this pond, and just completely ignore the fact that it's 20 degrees.  (In my experience, Moms would notice this stuff, and would not be amused.)

So, I'm glad that my kids have such a great Dad.  One that does the "crazy stuff" that I would never even dream of. I've been thinking a lot about all of the "crazy stuff" that my Dad did when we were kids.
Tell me what your Dad did, or what your husband does with your kids.

There's a little role reversal in our house, I'm the one who pitches tents in the woods and sleeps in the tree house. But, I do need my hubs to put on the brakes sometimes when I'm fixing cupcakes for breakfast or building bike ramps...

He sounds awesome! I'm loving the rink and the igloo!!!

Mine does crazy things like building a McMansion playhouse in our backyard and then telling me it needs a garage, patio and deck!

Then there's the little things like swinging him up and tossing him in the air that makes my heart stop every time. Building snow forts and sledding hills.

Or restoring not one, but three tricycles and two pedal cars, custom painting a toddler car bed and transforming it into a BMW (I just wanted to give it to him - as is)!

Dads have their own unique way of bonding with the kids - and yeah, it is different, but it's kinda awesome, isn't it?!?

Chip puts the blowdryer to Cindylou's sheets to warm them up for her....but he wouldn't think of warming up the car for me :)

How awesome!
Yeah, I'm the "dad" in this house. And my dad never had the energy after working 60 hours a week.
