I find these on my counter all of the time. I can't seem to throw them away. I'm really not sure why. I think it's a distant childhood memory. Something like this: "Don't throw that away, honey, we can ALWAYS use those." I'm not sure what to use them for. I have a junk drawer with far too many of them.
I have used them to tie plants to trellises. That's the only thing I can think of. Sometimes I think they'd be good to tie cords, like cell phone chargers, into bundles, but rubber bands work way better.
Do you have the same problem? What do you re-use the bread ties for? Was this just my family that couldn't throw them away?

It seems like I never have enough of these! I use them to close all kinds of bags...cereal, rice, chips...Need more bread ties!
You are not alone! My mom always collected them, too, and now I find myself doing the same thing. But we use them on more than just bread. Any plastic bag type thingy like frozen french fries and such. But mine seem to be disappearing so I suspect my husband has started throwing them out!
WHAT!?? I thought I was the only wacko who can't throw them away either....I keep them in a little platic bowl in my drawer....always grabbing them for something!
Ok, so maybe I'm the weird one... I'm a THROWER.
I was glad to find trash bags that came without twist ties. I would save them too!
